Movimento Tibete Livre e o simbolismo da bandeira do Tibete

Em tempos de boicote às Olimpíadas na China, achei interessante falar sobre o simbolismo existente na bandeira do Tibete:

1. A montanha branca de neve ao centro representa a grande nação tibetana;
2. Os seis raios vermelhos que emanam do sol simbolizam as seis tribos originais do Tibete: Se, Mu, Dong, Tong, Dru e Ra.
3. Os raios azuis simbolizam o comprometimento à regra espiritual e secular, estabelecidas por duas antigas entidades protetoras
4. Os dois leões da neve simbolizam a vitória completa do governo secular e espiritual.
5. A borda amarela em três lados representa o florescimento dos ensinamentos de Buda. O lado sem a borda representa a abertura tibetana ao pensamento não-Budista.
6. A jóia suspensa simboliza a reverência do Tibete às três gemas preciosas: Buda, Darma e Sanga.
7. A jóia circular segura pelos leões da neve repreentam a auto-moralidade associada às 10 ações virtuosass divinas e às 16 regras morais humanas.

The Symbolism of the Tibetan Flag

1. The white snow mountain in the center depicts the land of the great nation of Tibet.
2. The six red rays emanating from the sun symbolize the six original peoples or "the six tribes" of Tibet: the Se, Mu, Dong, Tong, Dru and Ra.
3. The blue rays symbolize the commitment to spiritual and secular rule, enacted by two ancient protector deities.
4. The pair of snow-lions symbolize the complete victory of the spiritual and secular ruling government.
5. The three-sided yellow border represents the flourishing of the Buddha's teachings. The side without a border represents Tibet's openness to non-Buddhist thought.
6. The raised jewel symbolize Tibet's reverence for the three Precious Gems: the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.
7. The circular jewel held by the snow-lions represents the self-morality associated with the 10 divine virtuous actions and the 16 human moral rules.

May a golden age of joy and happiness spread once more through these regions of Tibet

May the Buddha's Teaching spread in all the ten directions and lead all beings
in the universe to glorious peace

Emitting countless rays of auspicious light
